The New Balance 550 Is Now Available at One Block Down in Three New Colorways

This year, New Balance has been dominating the sneaker market, with a string of notable re-releases and collaborations cementing it as a contemporary force to be reckoned with. Building on the successes of its collaboration with Aimé Leon Dore in 2020, New Balance has released its popular 550 in three new colorways for Summer 2021.

Originally released in 1989 under the “P550” model name, the silhouette’s vintage stature continues to ring true today, with its simple construction and distinctly retro appeal reminding us of the “good old days.” Despite being a favorite among savvy enthusiasts, the New Balance 550 was never the most popular New Balance design, with athletes opting for the likes of the 990 and 1500. Now however, the world is looking at the silhouette with fresh eyes, projecting it to be one of the brand’s most popular models.

The design’s simple construction is finished with smooth and perforated leather uppers, contrasting toe-box detailing in supple suede, and a breathable mesh interior. Its recognizable and slightly bulky tooling system coordinates with the sneaker’s puff “N” branding and embroidered “550” signature; both visible along its lateral edge.
