One Block Down and New Balance 850 Trail Experience

Last Friday, One Block Down and New Balance invited 30 guests to embark on a hike up Monte Barro (922m), to test the 850AT and Hierro v5 trail shoes through rugged terrain and less favorable weather conditions.

The 850AT sees Fresh Foam cushioning joined with a grippy Vibram outsole to form a more than traditional hiking shoe. The combination of bold colors and fluorescent branding are a nod to retro-’90s outdoor gear. The Hierro v5 takes on more of a streamline design, allowing for more of a street-meets-outdoors aesthetic, and incorporates a more lightweight and breathable upper made from TPU-coated textiles. The Hierro V5 also employs a Fresh Foam X cushioning combined with a Vibram MegaGrip outsole.

One Block Down is the exclusive Italian stockist of the New Balance ML850YSC, which falls under the same series as the All Terrain and Hierro v5 collection, and is a revival of the 1996 original sneaker. This revived lifestyle edition stays true to its first release while highlighting the “NB” branding in gold embroidery on the tongue and lateral heel. In contrast, the rest of the original colorway is white with various black, white and blue paneled detailing. Suede and leather overlays decorate the upper, adding the textures that “dad shoe” lovers crave, while the removal of any midsole branding keeps the ML850YSC fresh from the rest of New Balance’s range.

One Block Down would like to thank Heimplanet and Be Contatto for their support on the 850 Trail Experience.
